1. Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrating Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, and art.

8. According to custom, temples dedicated to Goddess Saraswati are filled with sacred offerings a day before Basant Panchami, with the belief that the Goddess would join in the celebrations by attending the traditional feast the following morning.
9. In this festival the kids are taught to write their first words according to the Hindu Custom.
10. People usually wear yellow garments during this festival.
11. Yellow sweets are consumed within the families.
12. On the day of Basant Panchami a log with a figure of Holika is placed in a public place. During the next 40 days, devotees add twigs and other flammable materials to form a pyre that is lit on Holi.
